Answer Me!

Sick of pretending
this is some temporary inconvenience
and that we'll actually some day
have toilet paper again.

No one will say when. No one
can say when
hugging will be safe again,
or kissing or shaking hands

without some documentary proof,
we don't have this or that or some other
microbes or enzymes or...what the hell,
germs, about our person.

And we know they're everywhere,
like Chicken Man
they're everywhere they're everywhere,
some good, some bad, how in hell

can we ever be sure, can we ever
feel safe again? Ever?
Well, then again, we really never have
been safe, have we?

It's just that we didn't have to
be reminded of it
EVERY GODDAM DAY
AND NIGHT!!

Sorry.
But when will it end?
Rhetorical question, of course,
yet a necessary one

at least for me
to keep my illusion of sanity
somewhat intact, without which
I WOULD SHOUT LIKE THIS

AT EVERYTHING, ABOUT
EVERY GODDAM THING,
I JUST WANNA KNOW
WHEN WILL THIS FUCKING SHIT

END???

meow

SHUDDUP!!!

  1. That is how I feel sometimes too, Matt. I do try to remind myself that in ways this is no different, that the end can come anytime for anyone. I have always been a worrier in that area. Now it feels more real.

    1. Isn't there a movie, Reality Bites, Tracy? Or is my imagination going south on me, too? The youngsters seem to think this is either funny or a damned nuisance, or both. And it is, for them. I'm trying to keep the pilot light of humor burning for us seniors, too. It's getting harder and harder.

    1. We'll get thru it, my friend. Stealing from Faulkner's Nobel acceptance speech, we will not only endure, we will prevail. Best to you and yours!
